Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, consecrated on January 21, 1952 by Archbishop Finbar Ryan, was designed by Architect Anthony C. Lewis on lands donated by the Rapsey family. Inspired by pink poui trees adjacent to the site, the architect chose the colour of local pink limestone, greenheart timber as his main expression. It deviates from traditional cruciform designs to the contemporary in-keeping with the climate and landscape.
