Challenges may come our way, but His promises are true.
Luke 9:57–62
For a long time, this scripture passage had me puzzled. How could Jesus reject people who were willing to follow Him, because they wanted to take care of, or say goodbye to their relatives? Why? How come?
I visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and I ask, “Lord, help me to understand this, please.”
Today Jesus is making harsh demands. He is stressing the very serious conditions that following Him, entails. He wants ALL of us, ALL of our attention, ALL of our might. ALL…
I think about Luke 5:11. “Then, bringing their boats back to land they left everything and followed Him.” They left everything. Left their families and their means of livelihood; not knowing that they were following Him into trials as well as, ultimate triumph.
What is our own response to Jesus’ beckoning. He keeps calling us always…ALWAYS!
May we have the courage to walk away from the very things we love to follow Him. And yes, challenges may come our way, but His promises are true.
