Monday September 28th: True Greatness

“Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me.”

Luke 9:46-50

In a childhood science class, a teacher offered an equipment box. A mad rush of students stampede, seeking recognition, validation, and attention from her. I stayed back. I did not want the box, yet it was handed to me. Jesus knows our thoughts, motives, and readiness.

True greatness in God’s kingdom stems from being a servant rather than seeking power, status, or pride. The one who acts as the least is the greatest. “No fight up!” That grace opens doors and favor abounds. Jesus rejects sectarianism and exclusivity.

God works through people outside identical circles, calling followers to practice unity and grace instead of jealousy—a frequent challenge in the church. Jesus knows if we are genuinely sowing into hearts and building His Kingdom rather than our own.

Welcoming a lowly child mirrors welcoming God, complete surrender, purity and innocence. Do not be afraid of the light, as it serves as a beacon of hope. Illuminate the earth with His power.
