God is not stuck on yesterday – He is asking about the now.
Matthew 21:28-32
It matters not where we start,
How we start or when we start,
As long as we get to that faithful end.
One said yes with his lips, but his feet stayed still.
One said no, then his heart changed.
God knows our yes,
God knows our nays.
But He is not stuck on yesterday –
He is asking about the now.
This needs deep introspection.
To sit in His unfathomable love,
a love that waits, that doesn’t shame –
that love leads to conversion.
God’s call is not shouted to a crowd,
It is issued individually,
to one by one…
Soft, specific, persistent.
It points us forward to get things done.
Because the present weight
of our limited self
oftentimes places
love on a shelf.
Beginners’ enthusiasm is not enough
to take us through
when times are tough.
What matters?
Our capacity to be
Visionary,
Understanding,
Compassionate,
Agile.
This is what matters if we are to meld ourselves to the Father’s heart.
