Tuesday September 1st: I know who you are

“I know who you are: the Holy one of God”.

Luke 4: 31-37

Lucy was Rufus outside child with Mavis, everybody in Grande know that story.  People used to talk about it in Primary School, in the parlour, and in the taxi. She get big, she get a wok in Port of Spain and people from Grande  used to still call she Rufus outside child with Mavis.  She walk around with the shame of that for years.

Like Lucy, there may be things in our lives that have controlled us for years: shame, rejection, disappointment, unforgiveness, or the opinions of others. Sometimes these things become so deeply rooted within us that we begin to believe they are part of who we are. We lose our confidence, our joy, and even our sense of identity.

But Jesus sees the person that God created us to be. Today, let us invite Jesus into those hidden places. His word still carries authority. What has controlled us does not have to define us.
