‘Ask me anything you like and I will give it’
Mark 6: 17-29
What are you asking for? Is it love, affection, appreciation, money, people, friends, family?
Most of our lives we reflect on and grieve for what we do not have. We give so much and when nothing is given in return, we begin to feel unloved, unappreciated, unwanted, passed over by others and family members. What we do and give seem like an entitlement to the other. The same people you give to are the ones that turn against you.
Today, let us shift our attention from ourselves and look towards John and follow his example. He came for a specific purpose, to prepare the way for Jesus. Do we recognize that we too, have a God given purpose?
Let us ask God to show us our purpose and to fill us with the grace that we need, so that we may fulfil that purpose. May we be a generous, contended people, giving without counting the cost. Amen
