“Lord it is good for us to be here.”
Matthew 17:1-9
In this passage Matthew describes the revelation of Jesus’ Divinity on a high mountain. Three of his close friends were to have an experience like no other. In their presence Jesus’ face ‘shines like the sun and His clothes dazzling white,’- a sign of purity. They also witnessed the connection between the Old Testament and the New, the presence of two famous prophets, Moses and Elijah and their conversation with Jesus. Peter in his normal style offers to build three tents. He expressed to Jesus, “Lord it is good for us to be here.”
It is always good when we recognize the presence of Jesus; when we can hear the voice ourselves: “This is my son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him.” Oh, how we long to hear that same voice referring to us! The disciples were fearful, but Jesus reassured them, do not be afraid, words also meant for us.
The call to action is to continue to walk with Jesus, listen to His voice, and share our experience with others so that they too may do the same.
