Monday August 3rd: Be not afraid

“He went up into a mountain by himself to pray.”

Matthew 14: 22-35

Here is a reminder that when confronted by the contrary winds of life we are to call out to Jesus, and as he demonstrated concern and compassion for his disciples and the crowd, we too are to emulate Him and pull ourselves apart to pray.

As we pray, we are to be consistent and persistent in prayer because we do not know when Jesus’s answer could be: “Be of good cheer, it is I; be not afraid” or “Come” or “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Lord, please help us to develop strong faith as we keep our eyes on you. When we venture out of our comfort zones to meet and/or represent you, you are there to help us not to be distracted by fear, doubt, and the troubles of this world, but to feel peace in your presence.

Help us to walk in obedience, loving you above everything, and loving one another. Lord, help us to focus on the promise of eternal life with you, so that by our lives, others will come and worship you as the true Son of God.
