Thursday July 30th: The Dragnet

“Have you understood all these?’ “

Matthew 13:47-53

I like the imagery in this scripture passage. Scary as it may seem, it reminds me of church. Simply because there exists so many different types of persons in the dragnet of our church communities.

Being caught in the dragnet of Christianity is not entirely enough though. We all have a responsibility of building relationship with Jesus. No amount of pew warming, beautiful singing, eloquent reading or even powerful homilies will prevent the ‘angels from separating the wicked from the upright.’

Jesus asked, “Have you understood all these?” They replied a resounding “Yes!”
Do we ourselves really understand all these things Jesus is telling us? At Mass, the priest may ask, “Do you believe?” The congregation also answers, “Yes. I do believe.”
Do our actions reflect this faith?

Which side are you leaning towards? Which side am I?

I pray for you all as I pray for myself that on that fateful day, we will be selected among the “good ones,” and placed into “baskets” to be taken into God’s kingdom. Be blessed!
