Even modest actions or interior struggles, offered to God, can become transformative yeast within us.
Matthew 13:31-35
God’s work can feel slow and small, especially when our culture prizes grand gestures. Yet, Jesus teaches that the kingdom of heaven begins with what seems like almost nothing, a mustard seed, the smallest of seeds. Jesus’ ministry, starting with a carpenter from Nazareth and a few flawed disciples is a great example of this. It grew into a massive spiritual tree, reaching peoples of every nation with the promise of salvation.
We are called to enter the kingdom. Through the parables, Jesus invites a radical choice…words are not enough. We are called to obedience to the will of the Father and our “yes” means that our daily deeds must be ordered to what He desires, so that the change can begin from within.
Let Jesus’ use of parables draw us into reflection, prayerfulness, and openness to what God wants to reveal. Even modest actions or interior struggles, offered to God, can become transformative yeast within us.
