School of Liturgy 2026 – Come, be transformed

In his document The Day of the Lord, Pope John Paul II said, “For the faithful who have understood the meaning of what they have done, the Eucharistic celebration does not end at the church door.”

Pope Leo XIV hints at the same idea: “Let us draw with faith from this source of divine life and allow ourselves to be transformed by the mystery we celebrate.”

With these words of the popes ringing in our ears, here comes Liturgy School 2026. This year, the school is designed to help us come to a better understanding of the Mass which we celebrate and therefore be better able to live out what we have celebrated.

The Mass, which Jesus commanded us to celebrate, ‘Do this in memory of me’, is far more than our personal encounter with the Lord, far more than my weekly time with the Lord, far more than an obligation to be fulfilled. The more we understand the Mass, the better we will appreciate it and celebrate it, and the more we will be transformed. ‘The Mass: Transforming Us To Transform The World’ is the title of this year’s School, and we pray that is exactly what will happen as a result of our participation in the lectures and workshops, and by the Holy Spirit at work.

The lectures will look at the different parts of the Mass, deepening our understanding and helping us to see how they can transform us into the missionary disciples we are called to be.

The workshops, each in its own way, will help us in our desire to give God the best we can in the liturgy that is God’s gift to us.

The School begins on Saturday, August 1 at Presentation College, Chaguanas. There will be (besides breakfast and lunch) the first lecture and workshop.

From Monday 3 to Thursday 6, there will be a lecture each night via Zoom, and we meet again at Chaguanas on Saturday 8 for (meals again) and workshops. On Saturday 15 (more meals), a workshop session, a talk by the Archbishop and Holy Mass.
