New statue at Presentation Chaguanas

A new symbol of faith now stands at Presentation College, Chaguanas (PCC), linking the school’s past to its future. Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon blessed an outdoor marble statue of Our Lady of the Presentation on Friday, July 3. The second statue dedicated to Our Lady of the Presentation now stands proudly at PCC, following the tradition set 65 years ago when the late Archbishop Count Finbar Ryan OP blessed the first statue.

Prior to the event, Principal Dr Rene Wihby told The Catholic News via WhatsApp, “The purpose for putting the statue is to let the community in the Borough of Chaguanas know that PCC is a Catholic institution. Nothing says Catholic more than Our Lady.” The college is celebrating its 67th anniversary as an institution this year. Vicar for Education Fr David Khan and other invited guests joined the staff and students for the unveiling performed by Archbishop Gordon and Dr Wihby (right in video screen grab). The Archbishop later blessed the statue as Fr Khan led the gathering in the recitation of the Holy Rosary.
