The Eastern Vicariate gathered in joyful celebration on Monday, June 15, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Malabar, for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) Confirmation Mass.
The occasion marked a significant milestone in the faith journey of 38 candidates from parishes across the Eastern Vicariate and Tobago, who received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon presided as chief celebrant at the Mass. Family members, sponsors, catechists, clergy, and parishioners filled the church to witness and support the candidates as they publicly affirmed their commitment to Christ and the Church.
The celebration commenced with words of welcome and opening remarks from Fr Steve Duncan, Vicar of the Eastern Vicariate and Tobago. Fr Duncan warmly greeted all gathered for the occasion. He acknowledged the dedication of the catechists and parish communities that accompanied the candidates throughout their formation journey.
In his homily, Archbishop Gordon reflected on the transformative power of the Holy Spirit and the call for every Christian to be a witness of faith in today’s world.
He reminded the candidates that Confirmation is not the end of their formation, but rather the beginning of a deeper discipleship, empowering them to live the Gospel with courage, conviction, and joy.
The celebration stood as a testament to the vitality of the Church within the vicariate, reflecting the commitment of adults who have chosen to deepen their relationship with Christ and embrace the responsibilities of Christian life.
