A Committed Decision to Change…
Matthew 11: 20-24
Today’s Gospel puts a mirror up to each one of us. Jesus is reproaching us for our refusal to change our hearts. Jesus’ reproach is an expression of disappointment and disapproval as we fail to meet expectations. You see, God has worked and continues to work countless miracles in our lives. This is one of God’s ways of expressing His unconditional love for us. By His working in our life, He is calling us to Himself, YET we refuse to repent.
You see, repentance consists firstly of feeling remorse and regret for our stubbornness of heart; secondly, we have to make a committed decision to change our behavior and thirdly we have to actually head in a new direction – towards Jesus and His love. His reproaches are gentle. Let us look on our lives and on the miracles Jesus is doing for us and allow ourselves to feel regret for hurting His love. Let us come back to him with all our hearts!!! Alas for us if we don’t!
