Sing out my soul to the Lord
Matthew 13: 1-23
Whoever has voice, let them sing.
Sing a new song to the Lord; even without rhyme or reason.
For our God is filled with music and rhythm and has blessed his people with singing and dancing.
He has rolled back the stone to release the sound of the tamboo-bamboo.
Chimes of courage and perseverance, rhythms of sustaining energy;
Making all voices good, making the whole earth chant a fertile song; a rain-dance to the heavens.
As morning break, a farmer went out to sow,
At the top of the St Ann’s hills; he stopped and looked around.
And quickly, in one swirling dance he scattered notes and chords far and wide.
And just like when the first bamboo cut, the place started to vibrate with rhythm and music; sounds
of life and sustenance; chants and rattles, clapping, and stamping; all beautiful to hear.
But some notes fell on deaf ears; some valleys had no echo; disharmony reigned.
Though singing; they do not sing.
He sowed seeds wherever he went: from Palatuvier to San Souci; Arima to Moruga.
The whole country sang out their soul to the Lord.
