Thursday July 9th: All God’s Work

“Shake off the dust from your feet as you leave”

Matthew 10: 7-15

Everything we have is pure gift.

Therefore, we are to be zealous for souls, courageous in mission and faithful to our baptismal call: “Go make disciples of all nations!” expecting nothing in return except our crown of eternal life.  Some acts require more grace than others, for example, forgiving someone who has wronged us or praying for someone who has hurt us.

Christ gave his Holy Spirit so we can continue the work of advancing his kingdom. We are to keep on doing good and being the light of love dispelling the darkness. Whether our acts and words are accepted or bear fruit before our eyes, matters not.

Let us remind ourselves in the words of the late Archbishop Anthony Pantin: “It is all God’s work!”

In this way, we remember that we are not greater than the master, they rejected him and many will reject us too. What matters is following the example of Jesus, “My Father goes on working and so do I.”
