Historic first baptisms celebrated at Brasso church

A deeply moving spiritual milestone unfolded on Thursday, June 18, at the newly reopened St Joseph RC Church in Brasso, as a group of students received their first sacrament. The historic service marked the very first baptisms to take place in the newly restored sanctuary, serving as a beautiful testament to the ongoing faith formation programme at the Brasso RC School.

Parish Priest Fr Simon Peter Ango led the sacred ceremony, joyfully welcoming the candidates into the faith family by declaring, “Welcome my little one to the house of the Lord and be baptised.”

The landmark occasion was shared by a proud, supportive community of parents, godparents, and educators. Brasso RC School Principal Dave Marcus and School Supervisor I (and former school principal) Hannah Warner were in attendance, alongside dedicated staff members of the Brasso RC School who have walked with the children on their faith journeys.

Assisting Fr Ango at the altar were past pupil Caleb Whitter and his brother Eli Whitter, a current Standard 3 student, who both reverently served as altar servers for the historic liturgy.

The students who received their First Sacrament of Baptism included Kelisa Crawford, siblings Janiyah, Josiah, and Justin Alexander, as well as Mikel Sankar, Summaiyah Khan, and Giovanni Doxilly.

This joyous occasion highlights the vibrant spiritual revival, educational partnership, and enduring unity within the Brasso community.
