True disciples of Jesus are the ones who are obedient to the Father’s will. We are called into a real relationship with him so that we can recognize his voice and not follow another. We must then choose to do what is commanded of us and not just agree with its truths.
Prayer’s highest fruit is obedience. God’s commands are not only met through dramatic gestures but through a daily life of love, purity, forgiveness, mercy, and compassion. Jesus never promised us that this path would be easy. How easy is it to forgive someone who hurt you deeply? What happens when you are asked to love a difficult person?
When difficulty arises, we draw virtues from Christ instead of abandoning His way under pressure or choosing our own way. Let’s ask ourselves this question today: What is one small obedient act I can do right now? By choosing to act on it, we are building on the rock of Christ.
