QUESTION CORNER What should I do when I feel like my life is so messy?

I want to share something with y’all. Perspective matters. Perspective makes a difference in your life.

What do I mean? If you stand very, very, very close to a beautiful painting, let’s say you stand one inch away from a painting, all you’re focused on is one particular spot of that painting and it just looks blurred and it doesn’t make any sense and it’s not beautiful and it’s very abstract and distorted. It doesn’t make sense. Because you don’t have enough distance from the painting to see the full picture.

But as you step back and you take enough steps back, enough steps back, the full picture comes into focus, and you start to see what might be a masterpiece. And oftentimes this is what happens in our lives. Sometimes we don’t have enough distance from our problems to see the masterpiece that is our life.

But God has that distance. God has stepped back and sees our life from start to finish, and He sees the beautiful masterpiece that is our life.

But sometimes we are robbed of that because we are so wrapped up in the problems of the present that we forget to even look back and see how far we’ve come, or to see where we’re actually headed.

So, it’s a little reminder for you: sometimes just pause, step back, and create some distance from the things that you’re going through. Look back on how far you’ve come, look back on the things you’ve overcome, and know and find hope in that God is still writing your story. And that is a beautiful thing to understand and to believe.

Be blessed. God bless you.
