Tuesday June 23rd: The narrow but safe path

‘Enter by the narrow gate, since the road that leads to destruction is wide and spacious’…

Matthew 7:6, 12-14

As I interact with young adults, I have come to see increasingly how difficult it is for many of them to stay on the hard road. A young man shared with me how easy it was for him to go along that wide road at a point in his life.

As far as he was concerned, what he was involved in, many friends and adults, even “big people in church” he knew, were also involved. The activity was and is popular, legal, and socially accepted but of course spiritually destructive. It led to deceit in numerous ways.

Mercy reached out and he encountered The Path, who is Jesus himself, He shared Jesus placed him on the hard road. He openly admits that the journey back has been rough. It calls for a lot of discipline, daily surrender and at times humbling. He, however, continues to share that he will not give up the peace, the joy, and the love he has experienced, as he accepted that new way of life.
