“Do not be afraid.”
Matthew 10: 26 – 33
Jesus instructed the twelve disciples and sent them out with authority to cast out unclean spirits and to cure diseases and illnesses. Today, we are sent out as missionary disciples, to spread the good news of salvation.
Through the inspiration of The Holy Spirit, missionary disciples proclaim the gospel message boldly. However, Jesus knew that we would encounter hardships along the way. We would not always receive hospitality. There will be betrayal, persecution, and assault. We may have to fight off thieves to protect our beliefs and to defend our faith.
Jesus persistently reminds the disciples “Do not be afraid.” Your father knows you intimately, he knows the number of hairs on your head. Your father cares for you because your value is great in His eyes.
As disciples, let us remain faithful to the teachings of Jesus. Let us be encouraged to witness to our faith: recognizing Jesus before men. May we continue our journey of discipleship with hope and love.
