“Master, we know that you are an honest man….and that you teach the way of God in all honesty….”
Mark 12: 13-17
It was like they were saying, we know that you are true to your teaching of God, but … But, what? They were just trying to trap Jesus with a trick question, hoping that he would contradict himself, but they did not succeed. In fact, Jesus just cut to the chase with an instant response that taxes, dues, obligations, are to be given to the government of the day.
Jesus also reminded them that God created us in His image and likeness and we are also obliged to give to God what is God’s, because we are His. We are to love Him and live up to His expectations as we have relations with Him and with one another.
Today let us always be mindful to give to God what is God’s. Give with all of your body, mind, and soul. Give of your love, gifts, time, talents, treasure. Tell Him about your aspirations and concerns and remember to also forgive and have mercy just as He does and would expect us to.
