Thursday May 28th: Everyone is important

He shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Mark 10:46-52

The image of Bartimaeus sitting by the roadside begging resonates deeply because so many of us know what it feels like to be marginalized. Yet, God doesn’t care about age, race, status, or social position. He meets us exactly where we are, uses who He chooses, and answers anyone who calls out to Him.

When Bartimaeus cried, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me,” the crowd dismissed him as insignificant. But his persistence showed incredible humility and faith. When Jesus finally called him over, Bartimaeus threw his cloak aside without a second thought. In that moment, nothing else mattered; nothing compared to Jesus. He left his old security behind, choosing sight over status, and followed Jesus the moment he was healed. That love, that encounter transforms.

This begs the question for us: Can we cry out to God and drop our old reliance in order to follow Him? What does the posture of our heart look like right now? Remember, Jesus views no one as unimportant.
