QUESTION CORNER: Why do you think so many young people feel spiritually lost today?

So, if you’re my age or older, you lived in a time prior to Waze and GPS, which means that you had to find out the directions of the place that you’re going to before you started the journey.

Most times when a Trini gives you directions, it’s ‘go down straight, make a left, come back on the road, drive up, down, left, right, then ask Deborah on the side of the road if there’s the house’.

Now thankfully, we live in a time where we have technology and we could just plug in a destination in Waze and we know that if we go off track, it will redirect us and guide us towards the destination.

Why don’t we apply this principle to our spiritual lives?

Many of us are lost spiritually because we are not using the map that God has left for us. God has told us in His Word what the destination is, and He has highlighted explicitly to us exactly what we need to do to get there.

But the problem is, because most of us are ignorant of Scripture, we’re ignorant of the direction to get there, and we’re ignorant as to what is expected of us. Jesus highlights it explicitly:

  • Love God above everything else and love others
  • Take up your cross daily
  • Follow me

His grace is sufficient for you.

So many different aspects of this walk of faith that can equip you for every single aspect of your life so that you will not be lost. Why do we neglect the map and then expect to just stumble into the destination?

When you’re going on a physical journey, you don’t just jump in your car and decide to take any random road that you like and hope to reach to the destination.

So why do we do that with our faith and expect it to be any different?

Let’s not neglect the Word of God.
