In the same measure and manner…
John 15: 9-17
Jesus says ‘As’ the Father has loved Him. ‘As’ means in the same measure as; in the same manner as. Then Jesus says ‘So’ He has loved us. Jesus therefore loves us in the same measure and manner as God the Father loves Him! What Love!!!
He chooses each of us individually and personally. He commissions us to go out and bear fruit that will last. All He asks of us is to ‘Remain’ in His love. All we have to do is to use our free will to stay in this beautiful love. To ‘remain’ is not a passive state of being. It is an active and continuing action by keeping His commandments, which are, simply, to love God and to love one another. So, what’s in it for us?
This gospel passage tells us we then become friends of Jesus; Jesus’ own joy dwells in us; then our joy is complete; then the Father will give us anything we ask Him in the name of Jesus. What love!!!!
