Sunday May 10th: The Spirit of truth in you

“I shall ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete to be with you forever” …

John 14:15-21

I am in you;
Right inside of you, close to your heart, as close as water and wind craved by a dry weary land.
Close as spittle cleave to the roof of your mouth.
Yes, the spirit of truth is in you.
Just as it is in me; it is in you. That Spirit of truth is the God-in-you.

You eat, sleep and wake with that spirit. Morning and evening it is there.
If you abandon that spirit you die;
Love the truth; the whole truth; He is the truth;
If you don’t; you die slowly. Two foot in the air like a semp.
Rotting from the inside; inch by inch.

Truth sustains the rhythm of a body in movement
Lacerated by the temptation to lie; whipped and spat upon; truth hardly quiver.
It stays firm; nailed to the body like that cross
Unable to move or shift; so riveted were those nails
Body braced against the wood with the writing scrawled above
‘In truth we trust….’
As we go forward…hammered to the commitment
Silently, truth has no words.
