Saturday May 9th: Thank You God!

That would be so easy and a great boost to my ego.

John 15: 18-21

This Gospel can bring out the arrogance in me if I did not reflect on it with the help of the Holy Spirit. I could be tempted to say I am ‘hated’ because I am chosen by God and these ‘persecutors’ do not know God. That would be so easy and a great boost to my ego.

Today’s reading can also be very humbling, if we ask God to tell us what he wants us to learn. The lesson can be extremely healing. The next time you are confronted by “haters” you only have to remember this gospel passage and say to yourself in true Trini Language: “Who is Me?” or “If they did it to Jesus, who is me?”

You must remember to be careful, to make sure you are doing God’s will. A good help with this is doing the Daily Examen Prayer by St. Ignatius.
