“My own peace I give you.”
John 14:27-31
It is the eve of His crucifixion and in quiet intensity, Jesus prepares His disciples for loss, fear, and confusion, with a gift-offer of peace.
Not temporary world peace without war, pestilence, and disorder…but HIS Peace that lets not your heart be troubled or afraid. Peace that makes you rejoice in grief and darkness because Jesus is nearer than your breath.
The ruler of the world is powerless in His Presence. With Emmanuel and His laws indelible in our hearts, we strive to live as He commands. We trust and obey despite life’s chaos. Jesus bequeaths us with HIS PEACE that surpasses all understanding. We believe and bear witness! We rejoice for we know that all will be well.
Lord, help us to receive Shalom…
That internal state of restful quiet,
That Peace of Jesus that influences and blesses others
By its very Presence.
Strengthen us as we journey through the trials and uncertainties of our life,
Give us hope that builds the faith which believes that we too are going to the Father.
We rejoice and are glad as we claim Jesus’ own Peace. Amen.
