Saturday May 2nd: Yuh Eh Ask!
May 2, 2026

Friday May 1st: Participating in God’s plan.

St. Joseph the Worker.

“This is the carpenter’s son, surely?”

Matthew 13: 54 – 58

On this feast of St. Joseph the Worker, the gospel shows Jesus returning to His hometown, where the people ask, “Is this not the carpenter’s son?” In their question lies a profound truth: God chose to enter human life through the home of a worker. Joseph, a carpenter, shaped wood with patience and care, indicative of the way he helped shape the life of Jesus.

Joseph’s work was not glamorous, yet it was holy. By the labor of his hands, he provided, protected, and participated in God’s plan. This reminds us that all honest work is significant. Whether seen or unseen, intellectual, or manual, every task done with love and integrity has dignity and worth and ought to generate pride.

In a world that often measures worth by status or wealth, Joseph teaches us that work honestly done is valuable. Work becomes more than duty; it becomes a path to holiness. Like Joseph, may we offer our daily labor to God, trusting that He is present in every effort we make.
