“For I did not speak on my own.”
John 12:44-50
He enters the world as light so that those who believe do not remain in the spiritual “blindness” of the world. He does not speak on his own authority; He delivers the Father’s exact commands.
In contemplating this scripture passage, I visualized a pond and a nearby sign saying, “No bathing, crocodiles in the water.” Will we obey that instruction? A resounding yes! Yet, we hesitate to believe and obey the Father’s life-giving commands intended to lead us into eternal life.
We ask for various mechanisms to learn about God but these ‘isms’ could be an obstruction rather than a cure. We tend to focus on the immediate, a quick fix, opposed to being hungry enough to feed the soul with God’s word, internal nourishment. Jesus clarifies; His primary purpose on earth is salvation, not condemnation. Rejection of His message carries a heavy weight.
In today’s world, many embrace Self-Authorship, believing we must be the sole creators of our identity and purpose. But God is The Author (Archegos) and Finisher of our lives. He is the pioneer who initiates our story and defines our inherent worth.
