Live by the Truth
John 3:16-21
This gospel passage says that the light has come into the world. This ‘light’ is Jesus Christ, the Word Incarnate. So, when the passage says, ‘The man who lives by the truth comes out into the light,’ it means that we have to make a decision to live in Christ. This takes courage and faith and is very difficult, for, as the hymn says, ‘it often seems like evil ways do win’ and as the gospel says, ‘men have shown they prefer darkness to the light.’
Sometimes it seems like there is no reward for choosing to ‘live by the truth.’But the passage says that when we choose to do so, we become a witness for others and there is alignment between our actions and intention. It then can plainly be seen that what we do is done in God.
Let us choose freedom and not condemnation. Let us press on to eternal life and embrace God’s love for us through His Son.
