Jesus was not deterred as he continued to give insight into his earthly purpose.
John 12: 1-11
Imagine the excitement at supper. Lazarus raised from the dead, and is having supper with Jesus, while Martha is serving and Mary is pouring expensive oil on his feet and drying them with her hair. Believers and onlookers were also there, as well as the self righteous, naysayers and ‘smart’ men, all with their own agendas. What a mix of characters!
Some openly displaying pure love, devotion, and gratitude when they encounter Jesus. Some doubting despite what they saw and heard. Some threatened that their true intentions would be exposed by the encounter.
But amidst those present, Jesus was not deterred as he continued to give insight into his earthly purpose, through his teachings, miracles, and examples, causing many to believe what they saw and heard. Jesus also gave insight into his death.
Lord, please give us faith not to be deterred about sharing the love, gratitude, and devotion that we experience when we encounter you. Help us to share as we listen, love, serve, and display your attributes, so much so that those we encounter will also go away and believe in you.
