Sunday March 29th: Inner conflict

Palm Sunday

“Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.”

Matt 26:14 – 27:66

I don’t know for all you, but you see me, sometimes I just like Peter. I could see myself, like him, responding to Jesus and vouching that even if everybody desert him, I will be the one to stand by him. But when things get tight, I might declare openly I don’t know him, turn tail, and run.

And just like the crowd on Palm Sunday, I could be spreading my clothes on the ground and waving palm shouting, “Hosanna! Hosanna!”and then by Good Friday I could be shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”

Is not that I set out to be two-tongue or fickle. Is just like Paul say, (Romans 7:15-20), sometimes I don’t do the good I want to do, but I do the evil I hate… and live to regret it.

Jesus, I want to be like you. You set your face like flint, make you way to Jerusalem and endure pain and humiliation without resistance. Help me not to buckle under pressure but endure to the end for the sake of your kingdom. I thank God for deliverance through your death and Resurrection. Amen.
