St Francis RC Lenten Retreat

On Tuesday, March 10, the students of Cunapo St Francis RC Primary School, Sangre Grande gathered for a spiritually enriching Lenten Retreat, a unifying occasion that brought students, teachers and the principal together to observe the solemnity of the Lenten season.

Stepping away from their regular academic schedule, the school community spent the day in reflection, prayer and formation, setting a reverent and hopeful tone for the weeks leading to Easter.

A highlight of the retreat was the spirited musical leadership of Artherly Nicholas and his wife, Laura, from GRACE Music Ministry, whose joyful, prayerful songs drew the whole assembly into active worship and praise. Their music became a binding force with young voices lifted in harmony, hearts opened to mercy, and faith expressed with childlike conviction. Teachers and the principal participated fully, modelling a shared commitment to spiritual growth and the holistic development of every student. This year’s retreat held special significance as St Francis RC Church celebrates the Jubilee of St Francis of Assisi. The Jubilee’s spirit of humility, service, and joyful stewardship infused the day, inspiring simple acts of charity, heartfelt resolutions, and a renewed dedication to living Gospel values.

What began as a school event became a sacred pilgrimage: a powerful, God-inspired moment of community, worship and renewal that will resonate across classrooms, playgrounds, and homes.
