Friday March 6th: A change of heart needed

Conversion requires humility and courage.

Matthew 21: 33 – 43. 45 – 46

Jesus tells the parable of the wicked tenants to expose hardened hearts. The landowner entrusted his vineyard to caretakers and expected fruit. Instead, he received violence, rejection, and finally the death of his beloved son.

Lent invites us to stand inside this story and ask where we belong. God has planted gifts, opportunities, and responsibilities into our hands. He patiently waits for a harvest of justice, mercy, and faithful love. Too often we behave like the tenants, treating God’s blessings as personal property and ignoring his rightful claim.

The chief priests understood that Jesus spoke about them, yet they refused to repent. Knowledge alone does not change a heart. Conversion requires humility and courage. This season calls us to examine the fruits of our lives. Are we generous with forgiveness? Do we care for the poor? Do we listen to God’s voice?
