‘Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.’
Luke 6:36-38.
I was in church after Mass, praying the rosary.
Pray for me, she asked. Face tear-stained, she spilled out that she was among the many who had lost their jobs recently. She had turned down jobs where her dignity would be compromised. She had come from an interview where 47 others had applied for one position. She was between a rock and a hard place. She mentioned the word suicide.
I reached out to a sister in Christ who was also praying the Rosary. We listened, questioned, prayed, and gave. Calls were made and an appointment set up.
Outside of the church, “regulars” cautioned us, telling stories about her.
Were we conned?
Is that judging?
Lord, how to discern?
May the intercession of Our Lady and the effects of the Holy Eucharistic continue to transform us, helping us to see beyond Christ’s disgusting disguises to Christ, and not judge or condemn, but forgive and give, as we journey to becoming merciful, just as our Father is merciful. Amen.
