The Cover Letter From Jesus the Christ

PART II

Last week, we acknowledged the vacancy. Humanity needed a Redeemer. The job description was clear. The qualifications were demanding. The cost was high.

In professional life, when an applicant responds to a posting, the cover letter is critical. It does more than repeat the résumé. It explains alignment. It answers simple questions: Why you? Why now? Why this role?

A strong applicant demonstrates not only competence, but willingness. The candidate must show understanding of the problem and readiness to assume responsibility.

Now the response arrives.

“Dear Mankind,

In response to your need for redemption, I submit Myself.

You seek restoration because you know something is broken. You long for reconciliation because separation has left you restless. You fear death because you were created for life that does not end.

You require one who stands fully with God and fully with humanity. I am both. I and the Father are one. Yet I will enter your history as Emmanuel, God with you.

In any application, alignment matters. You asked for holiness. I am without sin. You asked for authority over death. I hold it. You asked for willingness to assume full responsibility for human guilt. I will bear it.

I will walk your roads and share your hunger. I will experience friendship and betrayal. I will pray in solitude and serve in public. I will live the obedience you could not sustain.

A cover letter also acknowledges the terms of employment. The terms include rejection and crucifixion. I accept them freely.

The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

This is not reluctant compliance. It is obedience rooted in love. The covenant pointed toward this moment. The prophets spoke of a suffering servant. The Passover foreshadowed sacrifice.

I do not come merely to refine behavior. I come to transform the human condition.

Through My obedience, even unto death, reconciliation will be secured. What sin is divided, I will restore. What death claims, I will conquer.

In Me, justice and mercy meet without contradiction.

You posted a position no one among you could fill. Not because you lacked sincerity, but because the wound runs too deep.”

The application has been submitted. The claims are clear. But in any serious appointment, the next step is examination.

Next week, as Holy Week approaches, we will move to the interview. Qualifications will be tested. Authority will be revealed. The Cross will stand as the ultimate proof of commitment.
