“For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come.”
Mark 7:14-23
What is the condition of my heart? This is not a question about my physical health but, more importantly, about the spiritual well-being of my heart. Do we think about our hearts in this way? Do we take time to care at all?
Jesus Himself says that evil thoughts and all kinds of sinful behaviour come from within our hearts. What a sobering thought! Is this what we desire for ourselves?
Our heart is the deepest center of who we are and is the place from which our thoughts and actions arise. It is therefore effectively the center of our souls. We are made in the image and likeness of God, but the corruption of our sinfulness often makes that image unrecognizable.
Let us pray for the grace to remove the cancer of sin from our lives and make our hearts become again the well-spring of Goodness. How do we achieve this?
Let the Word of God take root in our hearts and let blessings flow.
