Tuesday February 10th: God’s Command to Love

He knows Our Motives.

Mark 7:1-13

To be a follower of Jesus we have to evaluate our human traditions in light of God’s Word – His command to love. What sets apart a Christian cannot be ‘traditions’ but rather, pure love emanating from the heart. The Lord searches our heart. He knows us deeply and knows our motives. Jesus calls us to real love which is not just on the surface – shown for all to see – but it runs so deep that it is known by you and God alone.

To operate any other way, than with a pure heart, is being a hypocrite. It is pretending and hiding. What this deep love does, is cause us truly to love each other – the sick, the marginalised, the destitute, the ‘defiled.’

Create in me a pure heart oh God and put a right spirit within me.
