The Franciscan Institute Trauma Team (FITT) hosted trauma-informed pastoral training for communities in the Diocese of Mandeville and Montego Bay, Jamaica affected by Hurricane Melissa. This important formation, which ran from Monday, January 12–Thursday 15, equipped caregivers, and community leaders to respond with compassion and resilience in the aftermath of disaster.
During this period, Fr Leo Perez from the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops also visited, spending time in the disaster-affected areas to assess needs and support ongoing rebuilding and recovery efforts. Bishop John Persaud also joined the visit in a spirit of solidarity with the communities impacted.
