Are we guilty of starting conversations with a checklist?
What school do you go to?
Where do you work?
What is your title?
Without realising it, we are often ‘measuring’ the person in front of us, checking to see if they fit into our world or meet a certain calibre.
We look for status but in doing so, we often miss the soul!
THE TRAP OF ASSUMPTIONS
Even with good intentions, assuming someone belongs to our specific social circle can inadvertently make others feel like outsiders or ‘less than’ if they don’t fit that mould. ‘Oh! I am sorry, I thought you were from the same school.’
‘I have a shoe just like that!’ The response, ‘I doubt that.’
EQUALITY UNDER GOD
From a spiritual perspective, no one is superior to another. Being ‘good enough’ isn’t earned through achievements; it is reflected in how we treat ‘the least of our sisters.’ That is the real flex! Can we give up our physical comfort to help a stranger with a sprained ankle? True value isn’t found in a person’s ‘form’ or ‘status’ but in their capacity to love, or in a selfless act.
A reminder as we go along today; ‘decrease’ our own ego and social standing to ‘increase’ the comfort and dignity of someone else. A pure heart is the only metric that truly matters. May we make a concerted effort to let a pure heart shine when we decrease and help another person rise.
Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
Message from the Queen of Peace, December 2, 2005:
“Dear children, let it be at this holy time, that love and the grace of my Son descends upon you. Only a pure heart, filled with prayer and compassion can feel the love of my Son.
Pray for those who do not have the grace to feel the love of my Son. My children, help me!”
