Sunday January 18th: John points us to Jesus

“Look, there is the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world”

John 1: 29 – 34

At the baptism of Jesus, The Holy Spirit revealed to John that Jesus “is the Chosen One of God.”  John bore witness to this by pointing out the Lamb of God to his followers.

The Holy Spirit makes the Lord known to us through the gift of faith. Our Lord comes to us within the Mass through the Priest, the Word, the Eucharist, and the Community. He also comes to us through personal prayer, reflections, and in other ways.

Like John, we are to look for Jesus and point Him to others: invite and carry someone to church, a retreat, or a prayer meeting. Participating in community activities are also some of the ways to point others to Jesus. As we encounter Jesus, through faith, we all cry out, “Behold the Lamb of God.”

As we continue our pilgrimage in this new year, let us be mindful of the persons who are pointing us to Jesus. How are you encouraging others to discover Jesus?
