” Follow me and I will make you into fishers of men.”
Mark 1:14-20
When Jesus calls us, it is a Divine call. Such a call causes us to look deep within ourselves so that we are transformed into newness of life. We are no longer our old selves.
Rather, we become more aware of our tendency to sinfulness and make every effort to amend our old way of living. Such transformation, that is, the desire to live according to God’s will and to build up the kingdom of God should form the absolute core of our Christian living. It also goes beyond the confines of our religion and should radiate outwards to envelop every aspect of our lives.
The challenge for us is to recognize the many ways that God allows us to touch the lives of others. In undertaking this challenge, we will soon realise that we can touch so many lives in several ways. Like the disciples who were called and who followed Jesus, we can then truly “go out into the world” and “become fishers of men.”
