“Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
Mark 6:45-52
Picture it: evening by the Gulf of Paria. The sky darkens, the breeze turn sharp, and the water start to talk back. In the passage, the disciples are doing what Jesus told them- crossing over, yet the wind still rise up against them. That alone is a comfort: obedience doesn’t mean smooth sailing.
Jesus comes to them on the water, right in the middle of the struggle, not after it. And when fear take over, He doesn’t give a lecture – He gives a Presence: “It is I.” The One who fed the crowd now steps into the stormy place where faith feel small and tired.
Here (Trinidad and Tobago), we know “weather” isn’t only rain—sometimes it’s bills, pressure, heartbreak, uncertainty.
Tonight, let His words be your anchor: Do not be afraid. Invite Him into your boat; prayer, confession, Eucharist—and watch how peace settles, even before the waves fully hush.
