The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP), like other charitable organisations, faced increasing demands with limited resources, financial constraints, and the growing needs of those they served. Despite the difficulties, it remained steadfast through their “dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment” to their calling.
“Your generosity of time, talent, prayer and resources” allowed the SVP to continue being “a source of hope and compassion to countless individuals and families,” said SVP National Council President Nigel Phillip in a message to the membership for the new year.
He first thanked God for the gift of life, unfailing grace and for the privilege to serve Him through the poor and vulnerable. “With hearts filled with gratitude and hope, we welcome the year 2026, trusting in God’s guidance as we continue our Vincentian mission.”
Phillip said the SVP looked forward to 2026 with renewed determination and courage. New challenges will be embraced with confidence, guided by faith, and united in purpose, so they can respond more effectively to the crises of the poor. He rallied the membership to “recommit ourselves to serving those entrusted to our care with dignity, respect and unconditional love, always seeing the face of Christ in those we serve.” —LPG
