On Monday, November 17, 2025 Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation to 43 candidates at St Benedict’s RC Church, La Romaine. The journey for these candidates began in October 2023 under the leadership of Fr David Khan and three catechists, Susan Romano-Davis, Patrice Regis, and Deonarine Jaggernauth.
While Fr Khan had to leave the programme on August 18, 2025, to take up a new assignment, Fr Matthew d’Hereaux saw the programme to the finish line. Topics covered included Understanding the Scriptures, Understanding the Creed, Prayer, Study, Generosity, Evangelisation, Theology of the Body, among others.
The candidates participated in the Youth Rally at Holy Faith Convent, Penal and the Eucharistic Congress at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. They were also encouraged to carry out community work as missionary disciples and were to write a short letter to Archbishop Gordon. Frs d’Hereaux, Khan, Derek Anton and Hyginus Ekwuazu concelebrated the Mass, while Deacon Tristram Mathura assisted the Archbishop.
