Tuesday January 6th: 2026 challenge: Faith in action

“You give them something to eat.”

Mark 6: 34-44

Jesus’ example has always been words followed by faith in action.

When the disciples recognized that a challenging situation was emerging, their response was simply, “Send them away.” Jesus challenged His disciples to do something themselves. Then using what they had, they offered it to the Lord who blessed it, multiplied it, and used it for His purpose; it was more than enough.

In this gospel, Jesus is recalling the promises of Psalm 23: in green pastures He, the good shepherd, shall lead and provide for His sheep. There is no lack with Christ for He shall feed His people. Through His eucharistic presence, He will nourish and sustain us.

We need not be afraid to step out in faith in the name of Jesus for surely goodness and mercy shall be with us. God, who can never be outdone in generosity, will give us more than enough.  It is in Him we will find our rest.
