Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God
“They went with haste…and returned glorifying God.”
Luke 2:16-21
Having heard the GOOD NEWS, the shepherds left ALL the sheep in their charge and went with haste in search of ONE, THE PROMISED ONE!
Having found Him, they returned, glorifying and praising God.
As we journey into 2026, I ask myself:
To what extent am I prepared to leave all behind to go and seek for Jesus where I have been told he is to be found?
What am I to leave behind?
What is the quality of my hastening? Like molasses or with alacrity?
As we seek, find, treasure, and contemplate our encounters with Jesus in His Word during the liturgical seasons of 2026, as well as in the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries of our lives, may we be sustained by the graces received as pilgrims of Hope. May we find much for which to give praise and glory to God.
Mary, Mother of God and our mother too, may we model our lives on you and on your Son called Jesus, our Saviour. Amen.
