“Now 84 …serving God night and day with fasting and prayer”
Luke 2: 36-40
Widowed after seven years, Anna chose, not re-marriage, but a religious vocation serving God in the temple with ceaseless praying and fasting.
Anna, being Spirit-filled, revealed what was powerful and profound…The end of centuries of anticipating the arrival of the Saviour.
She affirmed the Divine Identity and bore witness to the long-awaited Messiah, manifest in The Infant Jesus.
Her encounter with the Holy Family and her spontaneous praise are testament to faith, devotion and the fulfilment of God’s promise.
Anna immediately evangelized those who lived in the hope of deliverance by the One to Come.
We note Anna’s unwavering dedication, despite personal loss, and we are inspired by her steadfast devotion which emphasized her commitment and spiritual discipline whilst navigating life’s trials.
Through this scripture we pray:
- For unwavering devotion to God
- For a spiritual well-being that transcends everyday challenges
- For recognition of evangelising moments and
- To embrace a spirit of gratitude, despite worldly setbacks.
We pray for a steadfast belief in God’s providence, His faithfulness and goodness as we too identify Jesus in the Eucharist.
