“Let what you have said be done…”
Luke 1:26-38
In his letter to the Ephesians, St. Paul assures us, “Before the world was made, he chose us, chose us in Christ, to be holy and spotless, and to live through love in his presence…” All of Advent is a prayer for Christ to be present, to be born in our hearts, our homes, our lives. Mary, the perfect disciple, teaches us the steps to realisation.
Recognise:
-Let us recognise the angels in our lives, God-sent messengers
Listen:
-Let us listen with open hearts and discerning minds to the messages, and instructions, which they bring to us
Engage:
-Let us enter into dialogue, seeking clarity of what is being asked of us, without doubting God’s word or ways
Surrender:
-Let us surrender, humbly submitting to God’s plan, giving, as Pope Leo XVI encourages, “our generous assent to the mission to which the Lord calls us.”
For by accepting His will in our lives, we too can bring forth Christ our Saviour into our little corners of the world. Amen.
